Wolves By Emily Gravett

Today as part of Book Week Mrs Anderson has set another Book Week task for us. First we read one of Emily Gravett's books called Wolves. Everyone enjoyed the book and had a laugh. After reading the book we were to make a DLO based on wolves. We were to make a table: One side which had what we think about wolves and the other side saying what is true about wolves. For example if the myth was Wolves and dogs are related we were to search up if it was true or not and tell why. I really had a fun time doing this. I worked collaboratively with Ofa.

Armistice Day | Personal Research Challenge Pt 4 | Main Disease

For my fourth personal research challenge Ofa, Miki, Carl, and I worked on a collaborative DLO based on the main disease that happened in WW1. Did you know that the main disease in World War 1 was Trench Foot is a medical condition affecting a person's foot in which the top layer of the skin becomes black and dies which is caused by the wet conditions. Sanujan, Miki, Carl, and I have worked collaboratively together to finish the DLO.

How Were Soldier Punished For Not Following Their Orders?

Today for our Personal Research Challenge LS2 was given a task which was to create a question chart about World War 1. Fraidoon (partner) and I have questions such as: How long did soldiers train for?, what kind of food did they?, how many soldiers died from firing squads? etc. The question Fraidoon and I researched more about was: How were soldiers punished for not following their orders? Fraidoon and I have learnt that if soldiers were drunk on post their punishment could be death but it can be tied to a rope for 2 hours. Did you know that soldiers were also sent to court and if they were found guilty for breaking one of the rules they were shot. Being killed and tied by rope wasn't the only punishment. Soldier were also put on cleaning duties meaning they were to clean the dishes and also the toilets which was worse than cleaning the dishes.

What Kind Of Food Did Soldiers Eat During WW1?

Today for our Personal Research Challenge LS2 was given a task which was to create a question chart about World War 1. What we were to do is write down a variety of questions that we want to know about WW1 on a piece of paper. After that we were to chose one best question and were to research about it. We've completed our first question and this blog post is about our second question. What Kind Of Food Did Soldiers Eat During WW1? We found out that soldiers eat egg biscuits, bully beef (Also known as Corned Beef) and more. I worked with Ofa, Renier and Fraidoon.

Extra for Experts - Mixed and Improper

This week for maths Ms Kirkpatrick's maths group were focusing on exponents which is also known as powers. Exponents or Powers are a short version of writing a long equations. For example if your writing 8 x 8 x 8 = 512 but to make it look easy you can put a 8 with a little 3 on the top right corner. I worked with Ofa to work out the answers of three exponents equations which were 8 to the power of 3, 4 to the power to 3, and 2 to the power of 2. We found it easy since we've already have experienced doing it. Before choosing three exponents we first had to fill a worksheet with 18 exponent problem which we finished in 5 minutes. If you would like to know how to workout exponents look at our DLO.

Inquiry - Towers - Venn Diagram

This week for Inquiry Mrs Anderson has set LS2 a challenge which is to compare and contrast three different towers from around the world. This was a bit challenging because instead of a normal two Venn diagram we were to make a three Venn diagram. I have worked collaboratively with Jeremiah and Ofa. The three towers we compared and contrasted was the Auckland Sky Tower, Eiffel Tower, and the Sky Tree in Japan. I learnt that the tallest tower out of all of them is the Sky Tree being at 2,080 ft. I have also learnt that the Sky Tree cost 65 billion Japan Yen dollars which is a lot of money. The Auckland Sky Tower is an amazing monument in Auckland I've learnt that it has 3 main decks which is the Sky Deck (highest), Main Observation level and the Sky Cafe. Panmure Bridge was very lucky because we were given an opportunity to visit the sky tower and see the amazing view of Auckland. Did you know that if the Sky Tower is decorated blue it symbolizes the Auckland Blues and the New Zealand Warriors.

Fence Post - Maths

Today during maths we were to finish off tasks we did not finish either this week's tasks, or the previous weeks tasks. In this problem we needed to find out how many corner posts and regular posts would Savelina have to buy to enclose two adjacent paddocks. We found this task quite easy and hard at the same time because there were some bits that we struggled with, like writing a blurb in the DLO. Although in the end we solved it. We learnt a new word, adjacent. It means something or someone next to each other. For this activity, I worked with Jack, Sanujan, and Ofa.

Maths - Fraidoon & Alex - Salary

This week for maths we are busy finishing off work and posting it on our blog. For one of our maths task we were given a maths problem about salary. I worked collaboratively with Jack, Ofa and Julian. At first we were doubting each other of which answers we were right or wrong. Then we went over the maths problem with Ms Kirkpatrick. At the end we were all wrong but we learnt a lesson by Occam Razor that If there is no evidence to the contrary, the simplest answer is correct. In this problem we tried to add up all the big numbers without using the calculator and and after we've got our answers it turned out to be right. I think next time we need to agree with each others opinions.

Maths - Age Problem

This week for maths we were given a maths problem from Ms Kirkpatrick which was based on age of people. In the problem there were 5 names and it gave a few hints to how old they were. We needed to figure out how old all of them were. We knew how old one of them them were which was Richard because it said Richard is 15 years old. I found it a bit easy but I also found it fun because we did some multiplying and diving in it (which I like). For this activity we were either to work with a partner, by yourself or with a teacher if you needed help. I worked with Ofa. We explained the process of how we found the answers.

Screencastify: Blogpost Analysis

At the beginning of the year Learning Space 2 created a blog analysis telling others the certain amount of blog posts we posted each year. We also included a small amount of description telling the reasons why we posted that much during that time. For this task our teacher Mrs Anderson set us a challenge. The challenge was to create a a video talking about our work. We accepted the challenge and got right to writing scripts. For making the video I worked collaboratively with Jack and Ofa. After we finished writing our scripts we started recording ourselves reading out what we wrote on our scripts. Recording and writing down the scripts were amazing experiences however, there was a better part to this. That was editing the video. For the editing part Jack and I took the responsibility and started editing. Our journey through editing was very similar to be in a jungle adventure. We found wired and things we've never came across. Still we managed to finish editing. Jack and I learnt many new things. We loved making videos and we hope we do the same thing throughout the year.
