Today P.B.S partook in an special event that only happens once a year. This event is Athletics Day. To start of the day, like usual Learning Space Two went to Tech. Although, we came back early this time. When we got back, from Tech, we immediately went to have our morning tea. After morning tea, we were split into our colour groups, we went into our first activity. In my group there was Jack, Jonathan, Nickaela, Joel and Te Pounamu. In our first activity we were throw a Frisbee into a basket ball hoop. The following activity was, rob the nest. Next activity was long jump. Long jump was pretty difficult for me, but I managed to jump the second furthest in my group, and Jack jumped the furthest, making our team come first for this activity. After long jump, we did a challenge where we have to hop our way to a basket using a sack and take a sponge and maneuver though obstacles and dip the sponge in a bucket and take the sponge back and squeeze the sponge into our bucket. The team with the most water in their bucket wins that activity. After this we did an activity where we have to throw a ball, using the shot put technique. After shot put, we played something like a ring toss. But in for this we used hula hoops. Our second to last activity was surf live savers, and our last activity was egg and spoon.
Then we had our lunch. After lunch we watch the 1 - 8 race to see who came first.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson.

Statistic | Reading Progress
For the past two years I have been taught by Ms Kirkpatrick and Mrs Anderson. They are both great teachers and to help us broaden our knowledge they provide us websites such as read theory. While I have been in Learning Space Two I have been practising my reading by using Read Theory. Today the class have gathered information from our Read Theory accounts to create a statistical graph that shows our improvement between last year and this year.

Teaching Students In Tamaki College
Today Jack, Alex and I went to Tamaki College to explain/teach, how to illustrate using google drawing. It was a loud journey to get to Tamaki College because it was raining and in the middle of our journey the rain increased by 50%. Finally, when we reached our destination the rain had decreased and we all hoped Mrs Anderson's car and jogged our way to the office. Then we were guided to the class we taught in. When we walked in the door, we thought there was going to be lots of students, but there were only seven students. After a while, the teacher of that classroom, gave us access to their projector and we started our presentation.

Wolves By Emily Gravett
Today as part of Book Week Mrs Anderson has set another Book Week task for us. First we read one of Emily Gravett's books called Wolves. Everyone enjoyed the book and had a laugh. After reading the book we were to make a DLO based on wolves. We were to make a table: One side which had what we think about wolves and the other side saying what is true about wolves. For example if the myth was Wolves and dogs are related we were to search up if it was true or not and tell why. I really had a fun time doing this. I worked collaboratively with Ofa.
Armistice Day | Personal Research Challenge Pt 4 | Main Disease
For my fourth personal research challenge Ofa, Miki, Carl, and I worked on a collaborative DLO based on the main disease that happened in WW1. Did you know that the main disease in World War 1 was Trench Foot is a medical condition affecting a person's foot in which the top layer of the skin becomes black and dies which is caused by the wet conditions. Sanujan, Miki, Carl, and I have worked collaboratively together to finish the DLO.

Today at tech, I've dyed and carved 4 colours and waiting to dye my last colour, which is red. It was a pretty difficult process, because at first, we were to dye. It may sound simple but trust me it's not. We need to be able to know, what dye to combine to make a certain colour. For example we have blue. But we need light blue. So what we do is add white to it. After we've dyed wooden block, we were to place it exactly over our A4 paper with the other dyes printed on them and place is carefully on a machine which would squish the wooden block and the A4 paper together so that the dye would stick on the A4 paper.

How Were Soldier Punished For Not Following Their Orders?
Today for our Personal Research Challenge LS2 was given a task which was to create a question chart about World War 1. Fraidoon (partner) and I have questions such as: How long did soldiers train for?, what kind of food did they?, how many soldiers died from firing squads? etc. The question Fraidoon and I researched more about was: How were soldiers punished for not following their orders? Fraidoon and I have learnt that if soldiers were drunk on post their punishment could be death but it can be tied to a rope for 2 hours. Did you know that soldiers were also sent to court and if they were found guilty for breaking one of the rules they were shot. Being killed and tied by rope wasn't the only punishment. Soldier were also put on cleaning duties meaning they were to clean the dishes and also the toilets which was worse than cleaning the dishes.

What we were to do is write down a variety of questions that we want to know about WW1 on a piece of paper. After that we were to chose one best question and were to research about it. We've completed our first question and this blog post is about our second question. What Kind Of Food Did Soldiers Eat During WW1? We found out that soldiers eat egg biscuits, bully beef (Also known as Corned Beef) and more. I worked with Ofa, Renier and Fraidoon.

Unity | LEST WE FORGET
Mrs Anderson asked the class to create a google drawing that included the Armistice theme. The poster above is a visual representation of the unity between the British and the United States of America. This is why their is a crown (U.K.) and a man with a hat with stars (U.S.A.). During the war America and England were very close and both fought side by side. In the background there is a soldier paying his respect to the fallen soldiers of New Zealand (Reason for the silver fern). I did this to incorporate our nations fallen heroes.

Fiction Or Non - Fiction
This week it is Book Week. To start of Book week were to create a DLO that showed the books we read in our pasts. Then we were asked to choose one of the many challenges we were given. Our first challenge was to make a poster that tells Juniors, how to take care of their books. Now, we've decided to make a DLO (Digital Learning Object) about the difference between Fiction and Non-Fiction.
How To Look After Your Book
Today, we have completed our second challenge for Book Week. Sanujan, Reneir and I created this DLO showing you how to take care of your book. It is important to take care of your books because other than teachers, books also educate us. We have worked collaboratively to completing this poster to show Juniors how to take care of their books.

Book Week Challenge
This week is book week for Panmure Bridge School. This week we are doing a few challenges based on the books that we have read in our past. For today's challenge, we were to go to the past, and create a DLO that showed our favourite books as a kid. Ageing from when we started school, to our favourite book now. This activity was pretty easy, since I started reading at the age of 7. Still it got hard from time to time to remember which books we read as a kid. In the end, it was fun to remember what we used to like as a kid, and comparing those stories to what we like now. I really enjoyed reading Geronimo Stilton, The Stinky Cheese Vacation. I enjoyed it because of the location, and characters. In this story the two main characters are Geronimo Stilton and his Uncle Stingysnout. This story takes place in a Castle.

Armistice Day Commemoration
It has almost been one hundred years, since the beginning of Armistice. On Sunday at 11 o'clock November, it will be exactly 100 years. Since the 100th year of Armistice is during the weekends, we commemorated Armistice Day, today. The school has replaced our normal school assembly with Armistice Day Commemoration. Ofa, one of our Manaiakalani Leaders, said the Karakia to start the commemoration. Following him, Mr Johnston (Our School Principle), said his speech. During that time we were joined by a representative from the New Zealand Defence Force, and two people from the Board Of Trustees. After that Tiava and Jeremiah (Head Students) recited the Ode of remembrance both in English and in Maori. We then listened to the Last Post, while the New Zealand flag was being lowered, after that Flag was lowered. It was then raised, when was Reveille playing. To remember this event poppies with the signature of the students will be placed on the fence in our school. To finish of the Commemoration, we sang the New Zealand National Anthem. 'WE WILL REMEMBER THEM, WE WILL REMEMBER, LEST WE FORGET'.

Armistice Day
On the 11th of November at 11:00am all the countries who fought in World War 1 signed a treaty which would eventually bring WW1 to an end. The soldiers were delighted to hear the news and the people who live in the allied nations celebrated by doing many things like marching. Families were happy to get confirmation that they will not lose any of their loved ones. The Armistice was signed in a secluded area in Compiègne, France. WW1 was a deadly conflict resulting in 16 million deaths. Due to the many lives lost many were not identified. To commemorate the unidentified fallen soldiers there are Unknown Warrior tombs around the world which people can go to and show respect. It has nearly been 100 years since the end of World War 1. To mark the special occasion, the New Zealand Reserve bank brought out a 50 cent coin which has details that represents World War 1. For this activity I have worked with Jeremiah.
Teaching Joseph Algebra | Attitude | Gold C.A.R.E Award
Last year I managed to get all of my Sliver C.A.R.E Awards completed, and this year I'm focusing on getting all of my Gold C.A.R.E completed by the end of this year. This blog post is about the last task I completed. This task is about tutoring someone who needs help with their learning. For this task I decided to teach Joseph, Multiplication Algebraic Equations. I gave him two equations to solve. Joseph was very keen to learn something new.

Task Created With Teacher | Helping Juniors | C.A.R.E awards
Unfortunately we do not have an image of myself, since I was also the person who took photos.
Throughout the year, 8 students including myself were picked to go to the Junior sections, to help the juniors with their Reading, Maths, and blogging skills, but on our first day we only focused on helping the juniors read their books and with their maths. My job was to bounce between classes and help both juniors and seniors out.( If they needed help) It was really interesting to see how the juniors were very interactive with their learning. Throughout our session we got the chance to see what they do on their iPads. On their iPads we went on their maths site and tried to solve out maths equations they received. We also went on Sunshine Classics. (a digital program for reading)

Collaborative Comprehension | The Battle Of The Somme
This week, we did something really different. What we did was collaborative comprehension. This means we collaborate and work as a team to complete our set task. However the only difference was, we didn't work in groups. Rather we worked in pairs. Since this task was in reading, we were to choose a person from Ms Kirkpatrick's group to be our partner. After we got into our pairs, we started on our task. Our task was to infer a story called The Battle Of The Somme. After we read the context we were to answer many varieties of questions that link to this context. This task links to Mrs Anderson's Inquiry sessions. They inquiry sessions were about Peace. For this task I worked collaboratively with Angela.
